More Double Paradiddle Exercises

Following from last week’s Double Paradiddle exercise, I’d thought I share something I like to do to keep grooves interesting. This is to take a sticking pattern from a rudiment and change it from a left and right hand pattern to a bass drum and left hand. Add hi hats or ride over the top and this opens up a whole new range of grooves waiting to be tried! Here’s one I created over a 1/2 shuffle hybrid pattern using the Double Paraddidle. I find it best to use shuffle or swing hi hat patterns when using sextuplet sticking as it’s easier to find your way around them when you put them into practice. As usual the audio can be found at https://soundcloud.com/cornwalldrumtuition/doubleparashuffle-1 and the notation below. Will publish more of these ideas if they become more popular. Enjoy! CDT
