Autumn Term 2016

Happy Autumn Term everyone!

Lessons are now well underway, and would like to say a big loud ‘Hello’ to all our new drummers that have started this term.

Lots of exciting things happening this term including a special Drum Concert at St Mary’s School on the 17th of October and African Drumming lessons at Coads Green School. We’ll keep you informed of any other updates or concerts happening.

(Drum!) Circle of Life

We have been very proud to have worked alongside Bodmin College this term for their sold out production of Disney’s The Lion King.

Tom provided two Africa Drumming workshops for the percussionists that featured in numerous songs in the production as well as a group solo piece in which drummers performed traditional Kuku and Djole rhythms.

Tom also provided two workshops for Cymaz Music’s exchanging notes project, in which students learned and performed different Djembe rhythms (one of which they had created themselves) to crowds waiting for the production on the Tuesday.

We had so much fun doing this, and would like to thank Musical Director Ben Vincent for giving us the opportunity to work with such talented musicians and be part of such an amazing and inspiring show. Well done everyone!

Samba de Pensilva!

We have been working with Cornwall Music Hub this term to deliver Samba lessons to students at Pensilva school. Over the course of ten weeks the Year 6 Pupils have had a chance to play on multiple percussive instruments, and play many different styles of South American music as well as creating and performing their own Samba song to the rest of the school and parents. Perfect timing for the 2016 Olympics!

Happy 2016!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas/New Year. Our 2016 starts with a *BANG* as we have just started Samba lessons at Pensilva school on Friday afternoons for the term. On top of that we’ll be holding Djembe workshops for the students at Bodmin College for their upcoming production of The Lion King, which is being performed in April. All studio and school lessons are back on, and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with this term!

Autumn Term 2015 Begins

I’m very excited to welcome St Teath, St Neot and Coads Green School to our ever growing list of schools this Autumn term. We have lots of new recruits on board this term and I absolutely can’t wait to get them started on their first lesson, as well as welcoming back everyone else after a relaxing (sunny-ish) summer holiday!

If we provide lessons at your child’s school you’d like to sign him/her up to lessons head over to the School Lessons page, where you can fill in an application form.

See you all behind the kit,

NEWS: St Mary’s Djembe Lessons

Year 2s at St Mary’s CP School in Bodmin have been learning all about West African Drumming this term! Cornwall Drum Tuition has been working with The Cornwall Music Hub to provide group Djembe lessons, in which students have learned about different tones, techniques and the history of the instrument.

Classes are gearing up to a performance to show off their percussive skills in the Summer Term, 2015.
